Robert Lackey is a native of Havre de Grace, Maryland. Stepping outside of technical writing in 2005, he focused his alternate passion on understanding life along the canal, and the uniqueness of Maryland history. That passion for history evolved into the historical novel “Pulaski’s Canal, set in 1841 Havre de Grace, published in 2014. He then continued the story within the novel series: The Pulaski Saga. The novels follow a representative family, from the mid to latter 19th century. The Pulaski’s settle along the canal that passes daily between slave and free state, awakening them to the moral quandary of bondage versus humanity. From awakening to action, the husband and wife team face the real struggles of life in the 1800s while devoting more of themselves to helping runaway slaves escape north.
Over the past 20 years John Micklos, Jr. has written more than 50 children’s books spanning a wide range of ages and genres. His work includes picture books, poetry books, and numerous nonfiction books. Popular titles include, One Leaf, Two Leaves, Count with Me! published by Penguin/Nancy Paulsen Books, which was chosen for inclusion as a selection in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program, and his latest, Raindrops to Rainbows.
Susan Robinson taught herself to read at four, wrote her first story at six, and taught the neighborhood kids at eight. A career as a classroom teacher, school librarian, and university writing instructor allowed her to share these passions with thousands of students. Being an author lets her spend lots of time reading to her grandchildren, as well as new groups of children. A reader of everything from Seuss to Shakespeare, Susan shares her love of words through picture books, memoir, essay, and poetry. Her books include When Poke Woke and Poke’s Toque (children’s books also available in Spanish) and Say His Name:A Mother’s Grief, a memoir.
Joe Paulus and Wendy Gill will be performing their annual Holiday music during the evening!

We are requesting that folks wear their masks while in the Gallery except when eating and drinking.
