6th Annual Emerging Artist Show at The Palette & The Page
January 4 - January 28Free
The January 7, 2022 First Friday Elkton Art Loop Event at The Palette & The Page, features local art, the “6th Annual Emerging Artist Exhibit,” books by local authors, gently loved books and live music by John Palombo from 5pm-8pm. The month-long exhibit, will be up from January 4th through Friday, January 28th. The show will feature the work of Jess Duncan, Mary Jo Fitz, Brooke LeBrun and Allison Leftridge.
Jess Duncan is currently pursuing an Associate’s Degree of Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting and Drawing at Cecil College in Maryland. She enjoys hiding symbolism, deferential nods to pivotal figures in her life ( such as painting masters), and autobiographical aspects into her work. Her main points of creative interest are in photography, charcoal portraits of humans and animals, and painting.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Mary Jo Fitz has received formal art training at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland, and Cecil College in North East, Maryland. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, myths, stories, and dreams, her work focuses on finding within vulnerability: shelter, nurture, and resilience. Her work has been exhibited in local, regional, and national juried shows. Both her 2D and 3D work have received awards, including multiple Excellence in 3D Media, People’s Choice, and First Place awards.
Brooke LeBrun is an acrylic art painter from Elkton MD. She has a talent for capturing objects and landscapes. Her passion for painting has recently been discovered and even though she is mostly self taught she possesses a magical spell over the brush and palette. She likes to paint on canvas but mostly prefers wood. Acrylic is her medium of choice due to the thickness and ability to texturize.
Allison Leftridge is a digital and visual artist born and based in Cecil County, Maryland. In Fall 2021 she will graduate from Cecil College with an Associate Degree in Art with a concentration in Graphic Design. She is constantly learning from her experience through client work and commissions. She has been showcased in several art exhibits across Maryland, including the Cecil College Fall Art and Design Student Exhibit in 2020, Cecil College Fall Visual Communications Student Exhibit in 2018, Cecil County Arts Council Fine Arts Winter Art Show in 2018, Upper Chesapeake Summer Center for the Arts Visual Art Exhibit each year from 2014 to 2018. She produced logo work for Cecil College, and owns and operates her own art shop AlliLeftStudios. Her goal is to create art that celebrates life on Earth and human emotion.
Local authors will be signing their books; enjoy the music of John Palombo, too!
The Event is FREE.
The exhibit is from January 4th through January 28th in the Gallery. Virtual viewing and sales January 24th through February 28th.
Our regular hours, other than First Friday’s, are Tuesday through Saturday 12pm-6pm.
